Qinghai Nationalities University Held 16th Foreign Affairs New Year Reunion
On December 17th at 6:30 pm, Qinghai Nationalities University’s 16th Foreign Affairs New Year Reunion was held at the Xining Hotel. The school’s Vice-Chancellor, Wang Gang, as well as the Provincial Education Department, the Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, the Provincial Affairs Office, the Provincial Public Security Bureau, the Department of Commerce and other related departments were in attendance. Also represented at the event were the departments and faculties of our school leadership, including the International Department of Education and Foreign Affairs staff, teachers and students, as well as other foreign friends. In total, more than 240 people participated in the night’s activities. The event was hosted by Qi Fumin and others.
Qi Fumin began the evening with a brief report of the school’s accomplishments in the area of international education exchange during 2015. The data shows that the internationalization of our university’s education program has grown steadily, and that student training and education is still at the forefront of the province's colleges and universities.
In his speech, vice-chancellor Wang Gang fully affirmed the achievements made this year in the area of international education. He represented the school in thanking the province’s administrative departments and the community for their strong support of the school’s foreign affairs program, the international teachers and students for their contributions to the school, and the foreign affairs departments and offices for their effort and hard work during the past year.
During her speech, teacher representative Dang Yongfen referred to teaching international students as a privileged and meaningful vocation. Talking about her ten plus years of interacting with students from round the world, she commented on the many deep friendships she's made and the many things she's learned from her students.Student representative Mark Ellis from the UK also described his experience as a student. He referenced the rich multicultural environment at Qinghai Nationalities university and the outstanding quality of the teaching as key factors in attracting new students.
Following the speeches were performances by the student body: hilarious sketches, beautiful dancing, soulful singing, and even the legendary Chinese Kungfu, all performed by students from around the world.
Our school's annual celebration to welcome new students has become a fantastic platform both for study and cultural exchange; it both demonstrates the quality of the education our students receive, and provides an opportunity to celebrate together as a united international body.
